So Evan started running a fever and having trouble sleeping on Wednesday night. We kept him out of daycare on Thursday/Friday. Paul took him to the pediatrician on Friday hoping to find out what’s going on with him. They thought it was just his molars and told us to continue treating the fevers. Last night he still wasn’t eating well and spitting food out saying “ow.” So I looked in his throat with a flashlight and saw all kinds of sores and white spots in his mouth and throat. Needless to say, I was pretty ticked off that the doctor missed all that.
Last night he was up every 2 hours with fever, night terrors and generally miserable and inconsolable. So this morning I took him BACK to the pediatrician’s office and got the diagnosis I expected. Coxsackies with the possibility of strep throat. She gave me a mixture to try to treat his mouth sores to get him eating again and took a throat culture. We should know tomorrow if it comes back positive for strep or not.
This afternoon we were supposed to go to a birthday party for Evan’s cousin, but decided to pass since he’s contagious. Paul went to the party in our place while Evan and I rested together. He texted us a picture of Snow White when she made an appearance at the party. Apparently the kids loved it.
I made Evan some egg noodles with butter and parmesan cheese tonight for dinner and gave him some chocolate milk to drink with it. Well apparently, he thought they might taste good together, since he poured the milk into his bowl. It looked pretty gross to me, but he finally was eating, so I didn’t argue with him. Oh, to be 2 again…lol
Well, now that Evan’s all medicine-d up and feeling OK, I’m heading out with a friend to do some Christmas shopping while Paul’s on Daddy duty. It will be nice to get out for a bit.
